Manchester United Ronald Araujo

In recent weeks, rumors of Ronald Araujo’s possible move to Bayern Munich has caught all ardent Barca fans by surprise. Ronaldo Araujo, in the eyes of the typical fan, is not transferable. The player did not shy away from responding by saying he is not considering leaving the Catalan club this winter. However, the situation might change come summer. However this has not kept rival clubs from trying to woo the player.

First, it was Bayern Munich and, much more recently, Manchester United. Florian Plettenberg, who has been at the center of the transfer news on Ronald Araujo linking him to Bayern, is now reporting that Manchester United have joined the hunt for Araujo.

Manchester United has reportedly enquired about the player’s availability and have been informed about his transfer fee of about €80 million and contract details. Bayern Munich got similar figures when after making a similar inquiry. Ronald Araujo is reportedly the top target for Tuchel. How far Bayern could go to sign the player remains to be seen. There are reports from reliable sources that Barcelona would not accept anything less than the asking fee.

Undoubtedly, Araujo is an essential player for Barcelona both in the present and future. It is unimaginable that Xavi or Deco would be willing to let a player of Araujo’s caliber go without a fight. However, Barcelona’s defense has been shaky and mediocre this season. The team has been letting in many goals, unlike last season, when they were one of the best in Europe.

It would not be surprising if there are already plans to shake things up at the back. Also, the club is in a financial pit, and Araujo’s sale would enable Barcelona to ease its financial woes significantly. Araujo remains a crucial player in Xavi’s setup, and it would be prudent to retain him. Factoring in his defensive prowess and versatility at the back, we hope that Araujo will stay.

Strange decisions are common in football; the club might take this chance to help balance the books.

What are your thoughts on Araujo’s possible departure from the club?
